About

Why it Takes A Village

Who we are

It Takes A Village Nutrition (ITAVN) was founded in order to support individuals as well as families and communities like yours to be the healthiest they can be. We also strive to empower you to lay a strong foundation for good nutrition and health for your children and the next generation.

We are committed to providing individuals as well as families and communities like yours with nutrition know-how through counseling and hands-on learning in order to foster the positive outcomes you want to see in your life.

ITAVN was founded by Erika Pied in 2015. Her work as a nutritionist started in the United States of America and took her around the world; from Turkmenistan, Armenia, along the Thailand-Myanmar border, Kenya and back to the USA. She spent time with families in these countries and in several cases, lived alongside them for years. Through these experiences she has come to realize that almost all families, in all corners of the world, want the same basic things: to live healthy, happy and fulfilling lives and give their children all they need.

In her travels, she also saw the importance of the whole community in shaping the way we eat and interact with food. A child’s eating habits are largely a result of their experience with food, therefore, everyone who interacts with children has a role to play in raising and supporting the next generation of good eaters.

Testimonials

  • The Raising a Good Eater workshop series very much met my expectations! It presents critical information about parent/child attitudes, responsibilities, expectations and communication, which are all part of the foundation for good eating and good nutrition. Erika is an outstanding and passionate presenter, with a warm and welcoming approach who has a wealth of knowledge related to building healthy, trusting, eating dynamics amongst “feeders” and “eaters”

  • Erika was extremely helpful after the birth of my second child! Thanks to her, I lost a lot of my baby weight in a gradual and healthy way. I was impressed with her attention to detail and knowledge of up-to-date research. She is a calm and kind person. It was a pleasure to meet with Erika to talk about how to improve my eating and lifestyle habits.
